Starting one of the first motor-court chains between Illinois and Oklahoma in 1928, William Clay Pierce of Pierce-Pennant Oil Company built the Big Chief Hotel in Pond, Missouri. It runs westward from Ellisville through Grover and Pond, then dips south to Fox Creek, and continues westward across the Franklin County line. In general, this road follows the ridge line that separates the areas drainage networks into the Meramec River to the south and the Missouri River to the north. From about 1926 through 1932, a portion of this road was designated Route 66, while the permanent right-of-way for it was still under construction. The Big Chief Hotel in Pond dates from the days when this stretch of highway was part of the main route westward from the city of St. Louis. - http://www.cityofwildwood.com/Master_Plan.pdf, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=7006666&pt=William%20Colbeck William "Dinty" Colbeck leader of "Egan's rats", , 314-434-2665, 636-458-2525, 3144342665, 6364582525, 314.434.2665, 636.458.2525, (314) 434-2665, (636) 458-2525, (314)434-2665, (636)458-2525, 17352 Manchester Rd, Pond MO, Si Hensien, Babe Ruth, Yankee's, http://www.co.st-louis.mo.us/parks/historical-buildings/Meramec-MissouriRiver.html, http://www.dnr.state.mo.us/newsrel/nr03_204.htm, st louis location, St. Louis, MO, Saint Louis, Missouri, St Louis Mo, area, 314-, 636-,  ,    ,  ,  ,
